Have you ever wondered, what would our world look like without current technologies? It might crumble into pieces as we need technologies to ease us in our daily lives. Even when we are doing nothing at home, we are accompanied by technologies all around us. The gadget we are using, the internet and the lamp that is shining in your living room are all parts of them. They become even more essential when we are at the office, hence, Ohana Office Products can offer you them. We will unravel why we really need technologies on daily basis, especially at the office.
We Are Surrounded by Them
Take a look at your surrounding, unless you are in the ocean or the jungle, you can see that there are uncountable items that are powered by technologies. The electricity itself is a technology. We have been using electricity for so many years ever since Benjamin Franklin and the others discovered it. From it, numerous modern technologies can be invented and used. We’ll move to our main topic later, but now, look at what you have in front of you. You are probably being accompanied by gadgets and the internet. To be frank, almost everything around us these days is considered technology. From the vehicles to the gadgets to the public transportation and the elevators you use every day. We should be very thankful to the inventor for easing every single inch of our life.
Growing Up With Technologies
Gen Y and Gen Z, these generations were able to grow up with quite a number of technologies built around them. Basic technologies such as electricity and the internet existed when they grew up. This is the reason why we cannot be parted from them, even just for a second. They are undoubtedly essential in our life and everything that revolves around us is derived from technology. Our children who were born as Generation Z had the most experience growing up with technologies. Generation Z is born between 1997 to 2012, or to be exact from the late 1990s to the early 2010s. We were literally fed with them and due to this reason, we are attached to them.
Is It Possible to Work Without Them?
Well, to be frank, the answer is no. We literally depend on them in order to survive. For those who are working at the office, technology is a must for them. If they just disappear in a blink of an eye, not everyone could handle that. Some people would feel the burden of not having anything. They rely almost 100% on technology for their work to be done, for instance, e-mails, virtual meetings, and any matter that requires them to use any form of technology. How can they perform all these tasks without the existence of the internet and computers? You can’t expect a pigeon to send a letter just like a thousand years ago. That is such a hassle. They use technologies the most and their world would fall apart if anything like this ever happen.
Well, not only office workers are affected. Even those who are in other industries too would feel the burdens. Let’s take an example from the point of view of a cook or chef. Even with the existence of modern and wonderful kitchenware and appliances, some dishes and foods cannot be made instantly. Well, what would happen if there is nothing such as the microwave, oven, refrigerator and stove? Can they work easily and use the traditional methods of cooking? We can’t even imagine if this situation really occurs in real life. What would the world look like? It must be very havoc and would be catastrophic.
How Did People Live Before Technologies Existed?
Back then, people could live without our modern technologies just because there weren’t any yet. But, when there was barely any modern medication and equipment, many people died due to these reasons. There were quite a number of plague and pandemic eras when people weren’t able to be saved due to a lack of medical equipment and knowledge. Black Death and The Spanish Flu are among the worst pandemic where over 200 million people died. These days, we are equipped with modern medication and equipment and many lives can be saved. Other than that, back then office workers would use typewriters and later can be sent by the postmen. These days, there is no need to do so. We have e-mails, Zoom, Skype and many more and we don’t even have to move an inch from our seats.
Can We Live Without Them?
The most powerful and influential invention is the internet. The internet is actually considered as media, but the backbone behind its invention is the technology itself and the inventors. According to research, we wouldn’t be able to survive without technology and most probably we can live for only a few days. Maybe there would be some people who can last for months but by the end of the year, we might be extinct. Is it really true? Well, we would never know the truth until we experience it for real. But may God forbids that from happening because it is likely to be true.
So, what are the reasons that we become that way to the extent that we might extinct without the technologies? You might think that it is a bit overexaggerated. But, you might want to think once again. You are reading this post with help from technology too. Anyway, let’s get straight to the point. The internet is like a part of us, right? It is also a form of technology. What if one day you just wake up to no internet, no electricity and no modern appliances such as refrigerator, microwave, washing machine and so on, would you be able to survive for just one day? If you feel like you would be able to, it might be true.
Technologies are one of the best gifts in our life. We should never take them for granted. We can see that they are very important. Starting from the moment we open our eyes in the morning until the moment we close them at night, technologies are always in our surroundings. It is undeniable that we wouldn’t be able to live without them. Without them, we would be left behind just like in the olden days and with no skills, we would never be able to live. If you are currently working at the office and are utilising any of the technologies, do be grateful for being able to do so. You wouldn’t be able to bear it if they just disappear without a trace. We should always be grateful for what we have.
