Technology and artificial intelligence, or AI, has come a long way into the 21st century. It has contributed a lot to our society as well. Almost everything has been incorporated with AI nowadays and it makes our lives easier in a lot of ways. However, in almost anything we do or anything we use, no matter how complex they are, it is natural for them to have both pros and cons. So, to broaden your knowledge, here are the pros and cons of implementing AI:
Pro: More Productivity
Of course, with the help of AI, productivity increases. This is mainly because AI simply works and processes faster than the average human can. For instance, most factories now are almost fully operated by AI and only a few people are needed to monitor AI technology. Nowadays, with the help of AI, you can even start your own business from scratch all from the comfort of your own home. With marketing tools like Google Ads as well as designing platforms like Canva or Procreate, you can simply build up your business with a small budget. All this can be done on your laptop or even your smartphone, making things even easier since almost everyone already has either one. All you’d need besides a device is just an internet connection like Unifi. Unifi fibre coverage covers almost every state and offers a strong and stable connection for whatever you want to use it for.
Con: Causes Unemployment
Due to the previous paragraph though, the growth of AI can cause a lot of people to lose their jobs. Back in the day, factories would always need more employees because most of the process would be done by hand but with AI since they are programmed to do that work, people become sort of useless. Thus, they are eventually sacked. When factories fully use AI, only a few people are needed for monitoring. Even with tools like Google Ads, people wouldn’t need to hire marketing companies anymore since it can be done on their own. Almost everything can be learnt on the Internet nowadays and that is why a lot of people do not need services like marketing or something similar because it can be done themselves, resulting in the unemployment of a lot of people.
Pro: Available 24/7
AI is very complex and not that difficult to understand. With the help of AI, things like customer service lines would be available 24/7. For instance, you have a problem that is urgent but working hours are over, thus, there is no one you could call to help out. Worry not because a lot of companies have integrated AI into their websites. Their customer service lines would be automated with AI and programmed to answer almost anything you inquire. They are programmed with every possible answer to any question that could come their way. With this, people would not need to work night shifts for customer care and customers would not have to wait so long for their questions to be answered.
Con: No Emotion
Following the previous paragraph, it is a bit inconvenient to integrate AI into things like customer care because there is no actual care. For instance, let’s say the customer is expressing their problems or feedback on a certain product and are just responded with cold and programmed answers. Some people would not care but a lot of people value the niceness of a human or feel better after a problem is dealt with nicely. You can actually see an example of this being a problem in one of the episodes of a series called Love, Death & Robots. The episode is literally titled “Automated Customer Service” and this episode shows how AI makes humans lazy but mainly centres around a woman trying to make a complaint about her automated house helper. The automated customer service is portrayed as unhelpful and shows no empathy to the customer’s problem. The episode ends with the owner destroying her automated house helper.
Pro: Reduces Human Error
Naturally, with AI integrated into almost every piece of technology we know, it helps reduce human error. Human error is an actual term that is used because humans make mistakes from time to time. Even professionals have made mistakes. However, when programmed properly, AI would never make mistakes or errors. When they do, it is probably because of improper programming which is the human’s error in the end. Thus, AI is beneficial for manufacturing companies or companies that strive to have zero mistakes.
Con: Could Take Over The World
It sounds rather preposterous but it is a possibility. The episode of Love, Death & Robots mentioned earlier portrays just that. And it’s not just that episode of that show, a lot of other shows and movies show what it’s like when machines operated with AI go rogue. Thus, we live every day risking being taken over by intelligent machines.

Implementing or integrating AI in everyday machines is not wrong. It has helped us achieve a lot throughout the years and will continue helping us. However, we have to remember that we need a human’s touch as well and there is a limit to what we should create.
